Grape Harvest Festival

On the first weekend in October, the vineyards of Montmartre, the only wine-growing spot in Paris, has become popular in this annual celebration of the grapes with wine tasting, theatrical performances and other festivities. This romantic area was once thick with acres of vineyards and has been hosting his annual grape harvest festival since 1937. There are still thriving wines on a few of the streets. This Dionysian event features the obligatory wine tasting with a parade and a large gathering of wine growers, experts and lovers. In the evening, there is a variety show, feast and dancing ball. L’Existrans

The Association Syndrome de Benjamin sponsors a march to benefit the trans-gendered community, commencing at place Denfert-Rochereau at square J Antoine, during the first week in October. Call (33) 43 57 21 25 for more information.

Nuit Blanche

Since 2002, every year, for one night , Paris holds its "Nuit Blanche" in the begining of October (meaning literally "white night"). It refers to a sleepless night from 7 pm until 7 am the next day. All the museums, libraries, cafés, monuments and churches as well as swimming pools remain open. District governments provide breakfast in the morning for all the visitors who keep awake until dawn. At landmarks such as the Hôtel de Ville, you see art and lighting displays. Exhibitions, concerts and other events are held in various areas of the City of Lights. You do not need tickets for admission but to expect to wait in lines. Over a million of Parisians participate in that event which has become so popular that other European cities (Rome and Brussels) have also joined Paris with the same idea. Lucien Barriere Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe

Lisbonne/Lisboa
